About Aerospace Engineering

Aerospace engineers work with all kinds of aircrafts – from gliders to space shuttles. It focuses in designing, development, testing and manufacturing of aircraft – including rockets and spacecraft. Many engineers specialize in one area, like structural design, navigation systems, or manufacturing techniques. Others choose to specialize in a particular kind of air or space craft.
Two types of aerospace engineers:
Aeronautical Engineers – They work with aircrafts that stay within the earth’s atmosphere such as airplanes and helicopters.
Astronautical Engineers – They work with aircrafts that operate outside of the earth’s atmosphere such as rockets, satellites, and other spacecrafts.

Salary in Aerospace Engineering
Like in any other field the remuneration in this field depends on qualification, experience and area in which one works. One could get an initial pay of ₹50,000 to ₹70,000 per month.

Late Kalpana Chawla
Late Kalpana Chawla– Kalpana Chawla was an American astronaut and the first woman of Indian origin in space. She first flew on Space Shuttle Columbia in 1997 as a mission specialist and primary robotic arm operator. Chawla was posthumously awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor.
Late A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
Late A. P. J. Abdul Kalam– A career scientist turned statesman, Kalam was born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, and studied physics and aerospace engineering. He thus came to be known as the Missile Man of India for his work on the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology.
Ram Narain Agarwal
Ram Narain Agarwal– Is a noted aerospace engineer of India. He has significantly contributed towards the Agni series of surface-to-surface missiles. He was born to a family of traders in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Agarwal has worked as Program Director (AGNI) and as Director Advanced Systems Laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
Late K. N. Shankara
Late K. N. Shankara– was a space scientist from India. He was the Director of ISRO's Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad and ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), Bangalore and is now working as a senior scientist in ISAC. He was the Director of Satellite Communications Program Office and Program Director, Padma Shri awardee.
