I’ve often come across instances where there are different courses for computer science and information technology. Can someone explain the main difference between them to me? Because I’m really confused about this segregation

Since my current college offers courses in both CSE and IT, and since I am a CSE undergraduate, I am eligible to answer this :
The basic difference between CSE and IT is that in CSE,both hardware and software related subjects are taught while in IT,only software related subjects are taught. The course of CSE is more rigorous and thus is more in demand by students as well as the recruiters. Even though most of the subjects are similar in both the courses, the depth of matter taught in CSE is more in that of IT.
Hope this helps.
All the best 🙂
