Indian Engineering Services (IES) are the civil services that meet the technical and managerial functions of the Government of India. It is one the prestigious careers engineering graduates can opt for. The minimum educational qualification is a B.Tech/B.E from a recognised university or its equivalent or a M.Sc degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects also acceptable for certain services / posts only. It is also among the worlds toughest examination considering less number of posts and large number of applicants.
Coming to the preparations, first of all have a look at the syllabus and pattern of the examination. Gather all the necessary study material. Start from the easiest subject and basic topics. Master these first and then move on the next. Try to chalk out a time table and stick to it. If you can’t join some coaching institute to help you better. Incase stuck with any topic or subject ask your mentor or peers. Engage in as many discussions as possible with your peers. Solve as many mocks as you can and also past years papers. Read as much as you can. Know everything of something and something of everything. Just put in the required hardwork, success in yours.
