National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) (conducted by CBSE) and AIIMS MBBS entrance exam (conducted by AIIMS) are the most important national-level medical entrance exams in the country.
NEET Questions
This 3-hour long exam consists of 180 objective type MCQs. 45 questions are asked from physics, 45 questions are from chemistry while 90 questions are asked from biology. Each question is of 4 marks. Incorrect answers result in negative marking.
AIIMS Questions
In case of AIIMS MBBS exam, the question paper has a total of 200 questions out of which 60 are from physics, 60 from biology and 60 from chemistry. Other than this, 20 questions are designed to test the general awareness, aptitude and reasoning abilities of the candidate. The paper includes MCQs as well as assertion-reasoning questions.
As of 2016, over 7,31,000 aspirants appeared for the NEET exam out of which around 4,09,000 cleared it. This means, approximately only 56 percent students could clear the exam.
The scope for AIIMS is lesser than NEET. Around 1,89,300 students appeared for AIIMS MBBS last year out of which only 0.35 percent (approx.) cleared the exam.
Although the syllabus for NEET and AIIMS MBBS is almost the same, the difficulty level of the latter is higher. Hence, a little more effort is required when preparing for AIIMS MBBS exam. While NEET only has MCQs, you need to prepare MCQs as well as A-R for AIIMS.
You also need to work on general awareness and reasoning for cracking AIIMS MBBS. There are a few topics (especially in organic chemistry and physics) which are not included in NEET syllabus but need to be covered in order to crack AIIMS MBBS.
