Six students from Istituto Marangoni Milano recently collaborated with Disney Italia for a creative project.
Apurva Kulkarni, Elena Faccio, Huiyang Lu, Mereke Maralova, Nathalie Brasser and Shao-yu Wang, who are currently enrolled in the Fashion Elite Master’s offered by the Istituto Marangoni Milano, The School of Fashion, accepted the challenge of creating a capsule collection themed around some of the famous Disney characters.
The challenge included the creation of 10 amazing looks inspired from the Disney movie, ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’, which was directed by James Bobin and produced by Tim Burton.
The different looks were showcased during the fashion show for the Italian Premiere of the movie, which was staged in the historic setting of Palazzo Reale in Milano. All the looks including both days look as well as night look inspired by the characters of Alice, the Mad Hatter, the White Queen, the Red Queen and Time, was much-admired.
All the attires were differentiated on the basis of colour, which was chosen to represent the style and personality of the five main characters of the movie and each garment was made using various theatrical elements like ruffles and pleats combined with some trendy modern prints and textures. The final work of the students portrayed at the show is also available for purchase.

About Istituto Marangoni
Established in 1935, Istituto Marangoni is a private Italian School of Fashion and Design. The main campus of the Institute is located in Milan, Italy and its three other campuses are situated at Paris, London and Shanghai. Earlier, the institute mainly trained its students about pattern making and seamstresses but now it has turned its focus towards product development, fashion design and marketing.
Only a maximum number of 12 candidates a year are enrolled for its Fashion Elite Master’s programme.
