A Mandate for CAT 2017: AADHAR Card

The 12-digit Unique Identification Number (UID) which is also known as AADHAR Card will soon be a mandate for CAT 2017 aspirants. AADHAR Card will now become an essential document for candidates appearing for CAT 2017 exam. It will act as an important identity proof for all the students appearing in Board examinations as well as all competitive examinations from the academic year 2017-18.

According to MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) and UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India), the 12-digit AADHAR number will be linked to all the competitive examinations and board examinations to make a centralized ID system across the country.

MHRD has already taken the initiative to link the 12-digit AADHAR number to JEE Mains and JEE Advanced 2017. This has expedited the process of AADHAR enrolment all over the country. With this act, Govt. Of India has given an upper hand to digitization and use of a centralized identification system. The AADHAR number will be linked to CAT (Common Admission test) for admission in Management colleges, University Grants Commissions (UGC)-NET (National Eligibility Test) for Lectureship and NEET (National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test).

Dr. Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CEO, UIDAI said that “In order to facilitate AADHAR enrolment, UIDAI empanelled agencies will help the CBSE/JEE centers for the AADHAR enrolment process. This to help the applicants who have not yet enrolled for AADHAR card number. The process will not involve any payment or hidden charges”.
