On social media you must have come across a quote in which Bill Gates says that I will take the laziest person in my company because he will do the best work in the minimum time. The authenticity of this quote is debatable but the message is very logical and clear. Procrastination is delay or postpones action; put off doing something. This means that you are putting yourself behind schedule.

Procrastination is a very common habit seen in the youth and professionals now a days. Procrastination is especially seen in the students of almost all age groups. You can often see students putting off their assignments and projects for the time being.. One of the main causes of Procrastination is laziness or some other cause as the importance of the work or the lack of interest can also be a major driving factor in putting some work for later. It is a common and well established that procrastination can be your worst nightmare but what if we tell you that procrastination can be beneficial sometimes.

Procrastination can improve your happiness and productivity. Here’s how:

  1. Active procrastination makes you get more things done

It is a fact that you may be pushing something off your schedule but if you are an active procrastinator then you may be clearing off your other works in the meantime. At last you are forced to do the only thing that you have been pushing ahead.

  1. Filter necessary work with procrastination.

After constantly putting off a work you need to reevaluate the necessity of the work and the relevance of the work to you and plan accordingly in future.

  1. Procrastination help you find the most important work

If you procrastinate then you find the most important work to do first and the least important work to be done at last. Procrastination helps you make an order of importance and relevance of works in your life. It helps you sort out things in a specific manner according to your needs and lifestyle.

  1. Procrastination makes you more creative

One of the most important pros of procrastination is that it makes you creative. When you have a large work ahead of you and your time is limited. You cannot take the obvious course to do that work. You have to think of some alternate method and procrastination forces you to think efficiently and fast to come to that alternate method.

  1. Procrastination helps you to make better decisions

When you are unable to decide about what to do and what not to do then procrastination comes to your rescue. It avoids you jumping into something that might not be right for you. It buys you time to think about all the options and their pros and cons.
