The Princeton Review
Adopted an innovative methodology of calculating personality traits by questioning a person’s career preferences. The results are narrowed down to one of the personality colors – Red, Blue, Green and Yellow. However, they are restricted to only 4 personality colors and hence are not accurate. My personal attempt was not convincing as the calculated personality type was largely different from my actual personality. The suggested career options also were not from the fields I am interested in. You can give it a try but I’d suggest you find an alternative as well.
Map My Talent
This career test is a detailed assessment of aptitude, personality and interests. The final report describes personality traits like strengths, weakness, etc. and suggests three most success-likely courses apart from the other choices. It is a paid psychometric test and also supports the process by providing counseling sessions to help the student choose colleges, chart a career plan and check on the future prospects of the chosen careers. A resourceful test and should serve the purpose adequately.
Live Career
It is a free online test very effectively designed. The tests consist of 100 objective type questions wherein each question provides three occupations or tasks to choose from. The questions force you to look deeper into yourself and make decisions increasing the possibility of an accurate report.
I would highly recommend this test, even if you just want to know yourself better simply because the analytical techniques yield reliable results. Before starting the test, you are required to fill in your profile. This is a smart way to accommodate the vague interests you have in your mind. The report uses an optimistic rhetoric bringing forth your strengths and flaws, suggesting a room for improvement, understanding your values, proposing broader career fields you could focus on as well as specific careers under them making it worthwhile.
Career Fitter
In a rapid fire of 60 questions, the career quiz scientifically examines two most important factors to choose a career:
- Work place behavior
- Personality
It calculatedly puts forth your work personality traits, careers and jobs likely to suit you, qualities you can use to your advantage at work place, preferred management styles, famous people with a personality similar to you to serve as a guiding torch, communication methods, how to work in a team, etc. The test has proven to be efficient, however only the summary can be accessed for free; to access the whole report you need to pay. The report can be valuable in decision-making and is,in my suggestion, worth the price you pay.
