The world of design and fashion has expanded enormously owing to globalisation and technology. India has been making its mark in the fashion industry across the world and is now a name to reckon with. Celebrities across the world are often spotted wearing Indian designers’ creations, be it clothes or accessories.
Recently, renowned fashion designer Ms. Anita Dongre delivered a speech at the India Conference in Harvard Business School, Boston. She said, “I dream of making every village sustainable. We have to ensure the younger generation of artisans takes pride in the work of their forefathers. Today, they are all abandoning the craft and seeking other avenues for employment. The craft should never die.”
Anita Dongre completed her fashion designing course at Mumbai’s SNDT College. Thereafter, she started designing and supplying Indian wear for 12 years to almost all the famous boutiques in Mumbai.
