About Horticulture

Horticulture - scope, careers, colleges, skills, jobs, salary

The great challenge for the garden designer is not to make the garden look natural, but to make the garden so that people in it will feel natural”. ~Lawrence Halprin

Horticulture is, at the most basic level, the science or art of cultivating fruits, vegetables, flowers, or ornamental plants. Horticulture impacts our lives daily by providing nutritious fruits and vegetables, offering visual enjoyment, and promoting recreational activities. Horticulture is associated with many intensive practices that collectively make up the horticultural arts. These include various propagation techniques incorporating special plant structures such as bulbs, corms, or runners; the use of layers or cuttings; budding and grafting; and micropropagation involving tissue culture.
