About Physics

Physics is a branch of science. It studies matter, and all forces and their effects. Modern physics connects ideas about the four laws of symmetry and conservation of energy, momentum, charge, and parity. Physics can also be defined as “that department of knowledge which relates to the order of nature, or, in other words, to the regular succession of events”. One of the most fundamental scientific disciplines, the main goal of physics is to understand how the universe behaves. Physics is very important in the development of new technologies, such as airplanes, televisions, computers and nuclear weapons. Mechanics, a branch of physics, helped develop the mathematical field of calculus.

Physics Role Models
Satyendra Nath Bose
Satyendra Nath Bose- He was an Indian physicist from Bengal specializing in theoretical physics. He is best known for his work on quantum mechanics in the early 1920s, providing the foundation for Bose-Einstein statistics and the theory of the Bose-Einstein condensate. A Fellow of the Royal Society, he was awarded India's second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan in 1954 by the Government of India. Rabindranath Tagore dedicated his only book on science, Visva–Parichay, to Satyendra Nath Bose. Bose was honored with Padma Vibhushan by the Indian Government in 1954. In 1959, he was appointed as the National Professor, the highest honor in the country for a scholar.
Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman
Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman- An Indian physicist, who carried out ground-breaking work in the field of light scattering, which earned him the 1930 Nobel Prize for Physics. He discovered that when light traverses a transparent material, some of the reflected light changes wavelength. This phenomenon, subsequently known as Raman scattering, results from the Raman effect. In 1954, India honored him with its highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna. He was awarded the Franklin Medal in 1941 and in 1957 Lenin Peace Prize.
