How to take admission into Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) based on CAT 2017 percentile?
Here is the roadmap of taking admission to IIMs on the basis on this MBA entrance exam scores –
- Firstly begin with evaluating your profile –
Based on Academics (marks obtained in class 10th, 12th and Graduation)
Professional (do you have work experience or you are a fresher)
Others (how good you have been in extra-curricular activities, working for any national cause, do you have any talent and are you polishing the same, basically things which may define or project your individuality)
- It is important to have an impressive profile for IIM admission, as qualifying CAT is a primary and mandatory requirement.
- Also, go through the IIMs admission policy pdf to understand which all IIMs you can take admission based on their criteria and your profile.
- Make a note of IIM CAT cutoff for yourself according to your category and the IIMs you wish to join. Set a target of CAT score for yourself based on this cutoff.
- Then obviously appear and qualify CAT 2017 with a reasonably good percentile. Try obtaining a score that will help you clear the CAT cutoff of your chosen IIMs. A percentile above 95 will be good.
- Start preparing for IIMs Interview while you wait for result to be out.
- After CAT exam result announcement, wait for PI shortlist to be announced for IIMs, keep checking the IIMs official website to check your admission status. Also, IIMs send email inviting shortlisted candidates to attend further admission rounds.
- If shortlisted, appear for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). Then, wait for final admission status.
- At times, students get stuck into waitlist too even after getting selected. By IIM waitlist we mean the seats available for admission are less compared to students finally selected. More candidates have selected considering the fact a lot of students have 2 to 3 college options available with them and when they choose one, the other seats get vacant and the waitlist move upwards and other students get chance to take admission.
- If you are not shortlisted for IIMs Interview, you need not have to get disheartened. Just try for other B-schools accepting CAT 2017 score.
