Civil engineers design & supervise infrastructure like roads, highways, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, pipelines & sewage systems. Several factors that civil engineers must consider in their designs include costs, maintenance, durability (in harsh climate). They use computer technologies and advanced materials to design structures that meet the future needs of a growing population. Therefore, their work is carried out according to proper specifications and safety standards.

Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya
Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was an Indian engineer, scholar, statesman and Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918. He received India's highest honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955. He was knighted as a Knight Commander of the British Indian Empire (KCIE) by King George V for his contributions to the public good. 15 September is celebrated as Engineer's Day in India in his memory. Titled as “Father of Indian Civil Engineering”
Roma Agarwal
Roma Agarwal is a chartered structural engineer based in London. She has worked on several major engineering projects, including the Shard. Agrawal is also an active diversity campaigner, championing women in engineering. Chewang Norphel
Chewang Norphel is an Indian civil engineer from Ladakh, who has built 15 artificial glaciers. He has earned the nickname Ice Man. Norphel went to Amar Singh College in Srinagar as a student of science. He completed a diploma course in civil engineering from Lucknow in 1960. In June 1960, he joined the rural development department of Jammu and Kashmir in Ladakh as a civil engineer.
Anoop Kumar Mittal
Anoop Kumar Mittal is a Civil Engineer by profession and is the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited.
