It is expected that gaming industry in India will grow at 14%-18% per year and would touch 45 billion rupees mark by the year 2020. 1. Video Game Animator
Animators are one of the core contributors to the game development. They fill life in characters, creatures, environment and other game elements. Animators make use of assets created by Game Artists and portray them as living beings. They collaborate with programmers for in-game rendered cutscenes. So, if you are interested in becoming an Animator. You would have to take an animation course or a specific game animation course. This includes learning one of the software from 3ds Max, Autodesk Maya, and Blender. Animation courses can range between 6 months to 2 years. A 2-year course should be preferred for a full-time career in gaming animation.
2. Game Audio Engineers
It’s clear from the name only that Audio Engineer does all the work with sound for a game. It might include making sound effects, music, sound tracks, voices of characters, spoken instructions and all environment sounds like rain or wind sounds. Quality and proper implementation of sounds whether real or imaginary depending on game genre all depends on the work of an Audio Engineer. Creating a soundtrack for a game is a really complex work. Also Referred as “Network Engineer” or “Web Services Engineer” work of DevOps Engineer is to create and maintain network systems for games with online components. DevOps Engineer is short for Development and Operation Engineer. A DevOps Engineer must know how to manage the IT infrastructure that’s needed to support software code in dedicated, multi-tenant or hybrid cloud environments. He or she must have great knowledge of networking. He must have a basic knowledge of key programming languages. The job of a DevOps Engineer can be stressful at the time, but job satisfaction is high in it .Companies tend to give preferential treatment to DevOps Engineer so that they do not go elsewhere. 4. Game Designer
A Game Designer is responsible for what a game consists of, how it’s going to be played and what it means to be. Starting from the loading screen, game menu and then all the primary stuff that the players are going to see, all props, objects, setting, rules everything is done by the designer. This job is usually collaborative. A designer may be given a variety of works like of an artist depending on his talent. A designer must have a good understanding as well as the defining skills. 5. Game Programming
A programmer is a person who writes the codes database on which a game will work and run. Different platforms have different programming requirements. Programming is a work of the real logical mind. Programming for a game is a complex work and large teams are involved in the development of a game. A programmer must have a great hold on C/C++ and other primary programming languages. A programmer not only develops games but also software, apps, and other program oriented things. Talking about education, there are many game programmers who have learned to program as a passion and hobby with no formal education. They have done great in their field because of their own home experience and aptitude. They start coding from scratch and reach at a point highly recognizable. However, it is advised to have a general degree related to computer science studies. In India clearing entrance exams like JEE MAINS and JEE ADVANCED with a good rank would let you get the top on the rank list colleges for programming.
6. Narrative Copywriter
Narrative Copywriter is responsible for providing all the dialogues for the game. They develop the story line, any dialogue, and any incidental copy, such as tutorials and item descriptions. It is the work of Narrative Copywriter to give a life to the game by adding a story line to the game. It’s important for the Narrative Copywriter to understand the world of the game, as they’ll be writing a lot of the small touches that could make or break the experience. As it is the work of communication skills there is no formal education for it but it is recommended to have a qualification or degree in gaming language. 7. QA Tester
QA Tester does the vital role in game development. Quality Assurance Tester or Technician test, tune, find the flaws and suggest the detailed refinements to ensure the quality and play-ability of the finished game. Testing for bugs, minor glitches to major crashes and all other problems, QA tester does all the work. Playing Games for all day and getting paid for it might seem to be an ideal job, but it is, in fact, a highly disciplined job. QA Tester is all responsible for testing the programming bugs and any other mistakes so that game leads out to be a high-end product for the players. 8. Gamer
Now how a gamer is going to earn? By professional gaming! Professional Gamers earn by getting involved with the eSports world. Professional Gamers enter in tournaments held by numerous gaming organizations, and leagues hosted online and in live arenas. To be a professional gamer, you need to practice and practice.You need to choose a game which you find interesting as you are going to spend hours on that game. Don’t make it hard in beginning and start practicing against the bots instead of real players. You have to understand the momentum of the game and have to make a strategy accordingly. When you have done enough practice, then play against or with real people. It’s going to help you a lot to improve your gaming skills. There are also some more ways to make a career in gaming but these are the best one in my list to earn by gaming in India. Making your passion gaming, a career option is really fascinating and appreciable. Gaming is no more a time killing and wasting option.
