KNOW ABOUT CAT SYLLABUS

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is an all-India exam conducted every year by the Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) on the rotational basis. CAT is being carried out for the entrance in the colleges that offers management post graduate courses. CAT exam is conducted mainly for the admissions in IIMs, IITs, NITs, FMS, but many other management institutions also consider the CAT score of a candidate for granting admission.

The CAT exam is held once a year and has a very well defined syllabus. The Cat syllabus is divided into 3 sections:

  1. Quantitative Aptitude
  2. Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
  3. Verbal Reasoning

Let us go into the details of the three sections to understand it better:

  • Quantitative Aptitude:

The Quantitative Aptitude section deals with the fundamental mathematics. The questions from this section come upto 10+2 class but the level of questions is quite high, and a different approach is needed to perform well in this section. The ability of a candidate to solve the real-time problems is judged through this section. The topics that need to be covered are:

  • Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning:

In the Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning section, the Data Interpretation involves questions based on data in the form of pie charts, graphs, tables and the Reasoning includes questions in the form of verbal reasoning questions where a candidate has to apply logics to solve the question. Here, a candidate’s logical ability to evaluate problems and the understanding of data is checked. The topics that need to be covered in this section are:
