Avantika University Organizes ‘Design Thinking’ Workshop for Students in Bhopal

Avantika University, India’s first design centred university, in association with Ryan International School conducted an experiential learning workshop on design thinking. The workshop titled ‘Experience Avantika’ facilitated learning by creating an interactive environment for students. With participation from about 80 students of class 11th and 12th, the sessions offered students a hands-on experience with prototyping ideas and showcasing creativity by making concrete solutions. It helped students foster design thinking mindset by developing analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. The session included various team building activities followed by a deep dive into design thinking process for problem-solving.

Through such initiatives, Avantika University aims to bring about a paradigm shift in the quality of higher education in India. Eminent educationist Dr Sanjay Dhande, Chief Mentor, Avantika University, supported by a team of passionate design and engineering professionals and academicians is the driving force for this endeavour.

Elaborating more about the workshop, Dr. Sanjay Dhande, Chief Mentor, Avantika University, stated, “Avantika aspires to become the change agent in higher education by developing the creative and analytical strength of student’s mind through a design-led approach with prominence to synthesis over analysis. ‘Experience Avantika’ workshops will enable students to learn a radically new education ideology in a fun and engaging environment to lead their development as an individual with a problem-solving attitude.”

Students were trained on a variety of problem-solving techniques by working on live projects wherein they brainstormed within teams to come up with unique prototypes and solutions. It presented them with an opportunity to learn the new stream of education with design as a fundamental.

Yasmeen Khan, Head Mistress, Ryan International School, Bhopal shared, “Children are the foundation for creating a better future. Investment in their education will reap benefits in the long run. We welcome ‘Experience Avantika’ workshop initiative in MP and hope those maximum children from our institution will benefit from it.”
