A glassblower or designer is responsible for designing, producing, decorating and finishing pieces of glass. They mold glass to make glassware, stemware, and giftware, architectural glass, crafted glass windows, ornate items. One could work as a scientific glassblower, designing and repairing laboratory glass. They can work with individual artists in their design studios. They can also work in museums and historic places to restore age-old glassworks which can be of extreme importance to the national heritage of any country.

She has worked with nearly every hotel chain in India, with the prominent projects being at Soaltee Oberoi, Radisson Jass, ISTA Pune, Taj Ganges etc.

Reshmi Dey

Reshmi Dey is an artist entrepreneur of glass, a rare bird in the industrial and commercial world of India. Glass Sutra, an initiative by Reshmi Dey is the first public access studio and professional learning center for creative glass art designing work in India. The projects which have been executed include Radisson Hotel, Delhi, The Claridges, Suraj Kund etc. The studio would provide the space to allow Reshmi and all those working within its walls to express their commitment to artistic education, creativity, innovation, and experimentation through glass, with important financial support from organizations which share a similar vision. It is her wish that by creating an environment with a singular focus on glass, access to resources, and an ever-expanding interest in glass, that the studio becomes the largest and most comprehensive educational center in India for artists working in glass.

Srila Mookherjee

Srila Mookherjee she is India's first woman glass-blower, and her amazing repertoire is a testimony to her passion for the medium and the art form.Srila’s ultimate goal was to return home and begin her own studio. Idealistic and practical, she returned to India with just a file containing photographs, drawings and explanations of every piece of equipment needed to set up a studio. Using this manual as a reference, Srila sourced all her material and equipment indigenously and eventually began the first studio glass atelier in India in her home town of Calcutta, now known as Kolkata. Now, over two decades later, she continues to create magic from molten glass, always striving to explore and challenge the possibilities of this exciting medium.

Carol Milne

Carol Milne is an internationally recognized Canadian sculptor living in Seattle, Washington. She is best known for her Knitted Glass work, winning the Silver Award, in the International Exhibition of Glass Kanazawa Japan 2010. Milne graduated in 1985 from the University of Guelph Ontario, in Landscape Architecture. After a short stint at a landscape architect's office, Milne worked at a pre-press graphics shop managing a small group of digital typesetters. In 1988-89 she was a graduate student in the University of Iowa's MFA program in sculpture. Since 2000, Milne works primarily in glass, although knitting also plays a major part in her non-glass sculptures. See, for example, “Grow Lights”.
