“Medicine is a science of uncertainty and an art of probability”. ~ William Osler Medical record, health record, and medical chart are used somewhat interchangeably to describe the systematic documentation of a single patient's medical history and care across time within one health care provider's jurisdiction. Medical Records Technology or Health Information Technology is a field that has variety of functions in a health care facility. Maintenance of good health information system needs understanding of contents of patient’s records, collection of data, application of statistical techniques, understanding of medico legal aspects and statutory laws related to health care.Career Path

Pay Package
- Like in any other field the remuneration in this field depends on qualification, experience and area in which one works. One could get an initial pay of ₹10,000 to ₹40,000 per month.

Dr. Raman Kumar
Dr. Raman Kumar – He is the President, Academy of Family Physicians of India (AFPI), a graduate (MBBS) from Patliputra Medical College, Dhanbad. He was awarded DNB (family medicine) in 2005. He has worked as a senior resident in the general medicine department at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, New Delhi for three years. A Fellow of Indian Medical Association – College of General Practitioners (IMA CGP), Dr Kumar has actively worked for the popularization of FCGP (Fellow of the College of General Practitioners) programme among young physicians. He has authored the introductory chapter of the book ‘Family Medicine’ published by IMA CGP. His main areas of interest are acute care, palliative care, occupational health and migrant health research.
