Pay Package
- Commercial pilots get attractive remuneration and incentives, such as getting free/concessional tickets for the family. Salaries for commercial pilots range from INR 25,000 to INR 5,00,000 per month, depending on the airline.
- The entry-level monthly salary packages for cabin crew in the domestic sector range from INR 25,000 to INR 35,000 while for international airlines, it is between INR 40,000 to INR 1,20,000.
- For the ground staff, salary ranges between INR 8,000 to INR 15,000 per month for fresher.

Prem Mathur
Prem Mathur - Prem Mathur is the first Indian woman commercial pilot and started flying for Deccan Airways. She was offered a job, and at the age of 38, she flew her first flight as a co-pilot - the first Indian woman to have done so. During her stint with Deccan Airways, she flew Indira Gandhi, Lady Mountbatten, and the like. She obtained her commercial pilot's license in 1947. In 1949 she won the National Air Race.
Ayesha Aziz
Ayesha Aziz is making headlines by becoming India's youngest pilot. At a time when most are busy handling the dilemma of what stream to choose, Ayesha was sure she about being a pilot. When she was 16, she began her training and got a student pilot license by the prestigious Bombay Flying Club. Her training to become a pilot started while she was in school and Ayesha got her student pilot licence from the Bombay Flying Club when she was 16. Among the three Indians to be chosen for an advanced space training course at NASA, Ayesha finished the two-month training in 2012.
Durba Banerjee
Durba Banerjee was the first pilot of Indian Airlines in 1956 and the first Indian woman commercial pilot. Banerjee started her aviation career flying a Dakota with Air Survey of India as a DC3 pilot in 1959. She moved on to join Indian Air Lines at the Calcutta base in 1966 and later retired in November, 1988. It is heard that when she first approached then Central Aviation Minister Mr.Humayun Kabir to apply as a commercial pilot he was reluctant and instead offered her the post of a flight attendant.
Hardit Singh Malik
Hardit Singh Malik was an Indian civil servant and diplomat. He was the first Indian High Commissioner to Canada, and then Indian Ambassador to France. He was the first Indian to fly as a pilot with the Royal Flying Corps in the First World War. He also played first-class cricket between 1914 and 1930. Malik returned to India following the end of the war, and in April 1919 he married Prakash Kaur. She was the daughter of Bhagatishvar Das, a lawyer from Lahore. The couple would eventually have three children, including two daughters, Harsimran and Veena (Raghavan) and a son, Harmala Singh Malik. Veena would marry and settle in Queens, New York. Though initially Malik considered remaining in the RAF, he ultimately gave up the idea, as it was unlikely an Indian would be granted a permanent commission.
