Hobbies to Pick Up to De-stress from Your 9-5 Life

The daily grind of a 9 to 5 job can be practically exhausting both mentally and physically. And when the job involves usually doing the same tasks over and over again, it can really get to you and make you feel burned out because of the painfully dull monotony. To make sure you indulge in a little bit of self-care every other day, you need to pick up a hobby that can help you destress. There are a lot of things you could pick up, which will help you relax. And don’t make you exert yourself too much physically; I mean, why would you want to exert yourself physically after a long day at work anyway?

Paint with Diamonds

If you are looking for an after-work hobby that taps into your artistic flair but doesn’t require too much planning, then paint with diamonds might be the way to go. It follows a similar idea as paint by numbers except you do not have to work with paint, and things do not get messy. A diamond painting kit comes with small resin rhinestones which are applied to a base with an applicator. It is pretty easy but intricate work that requires concentration, but the final result is definitely worth it!

Journaling

Journaling is a great way to use your creative muscles, especially if you find that your job does not tap into them. If you have an artsy streak in you, then this is the perfect calling since it requires someone with an eye for design. You can start by getting cute stationery like journals, gel pens, washi tapes and more. And then grab a ton of old magazines and start creating your own little aesthetic page by page.

Crossword Puzzles

If you have a job that is mundane and requires the same actions and processes over and over again, then you need to ensure that you keep your mind active by playing word games and honestly what is better than a crossword puzzle. Head over to a bookstore and grab a book of crossword puzzles; if you are starting out, get an easier one. You can choose the level of expertise depending on what you are looking for and then after work every evening, grab a pen and start engaging your noggin!

Crocheting

Before you dismiss crocheting as a hobby for grandmothers, you need to remember that it is incredibly beneficial. It not only engages your brain as you plan your project and map it in your head but also helps you work your hands and work out some of the anxiety you might be feeling in your body. You can stop whenever you feel like it and pick the project back up when you have time! And of course, the best benefit of taking up crocheting is that you end up with something pretty unique that you made yourself!

Gardening

If you want a hobby that is pleasing for not only you but everyone around you then gardening might be the way to go. If you have a backyard, then it is time to choose a spot and plant a little vegetable garden for yourself. Start off with easy plants such as herbs, mint, coriander, and the like. Add in a tomato plant or two and once you get the hang of it you can move on to more complex vegetables. Tending to your plants and giving them some water and attention is honestly a great way to destress yourself. Plus the added bonus of being in nature doesn’t hurt. However, if you do not have the luxury of space, then fret not. You can get planters for inside your home and tend to them when you get home. Seeing the result of your hard work be fruitful (no pun intended) has a charm of its own.
