JEE Main 2019 Rank Calculation Procedure

We have something new to tell about the JEE Mains 2019 Result. NTA had decided to conduct JEE Main examination in multiple shifts in multiple days and that too with varying difficulty. Hence, it would be unfair to judge candidates on the basis of their raw scores.

  • To judge fairly, NTA will assess each candidate’s exam in terms of percentile score rather than raw score.
  • This method is known as Normalization technique. It is based on the percentile score. It aims to ensure that candidates are neither benefited nor disadvantaged with the varied exam difficulty across different exam sessions.

JEE Main 2019 Result Normalization Procedure Based on Percentile Score

The Percentile score of a Candidate is calculated as per the following method:

100 X (Number of candidates appeared in the “Session” with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than the candidate / Total number of the candidates appeared in the “Session”).

Note: The Percentile of the Total shall NOT be an aggregate or average of the Percentile of the individual subject. Percentile score is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained.
