Paper Analysis
Here is an analysis of NEET MDS Exam, which was held on January 7, 2018. Candidates who want to appear in the next exam can have a clear understanding of the exam pattern. Most of the information mentioned below comes from the candidates who had appeared in the exam.
Types of Questions
- The paper was full of Clinical and Theoretical questions. It had some direct one-liner questions and a few clinical scenario-based questions.
- The questions were more Theoretical in nature.
- There were questions more from the Basic Medical and Dental Subjects.
The Decider
- Many questions were framed from Basic Medical Subjects such as Pathology, Physiology, Biochemistry.
- The exam had a number of Medical questions.
- Most of the questions asked were from Basic Medical Subjects and the rest was from Dental subjects.
- Subjects which carried High Weightage were the Basic Subjects such as Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Dental Materials, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and General Medicine.
Image-Based Questions
- There were also a few Image-Based questions, which were of Moderate difficulty level.
- Overall, Image-Based questions were very few.
- Only 2-3 Image-Based questions appeared in both the sessions.
Overall Difficulty Level
Candidates’ reviews show that the exam was of Moderate Difficulty level. Majority of the candidates appearing in the session reported that the difficulty level was between Moderate to Difficult.

Cracking it in the very first attempt
Many people think it’s next to impossible to beat it in the very first attempt. But is it right to think? No, it is a myth, a repeated misconception! If you have the right motivation, strategy, and the required knowledge nobody is going to stop you from clearing it on the very first go.
Pointers to keep in mind
Don’t start a new topic at the last moment
Avoid starting a new topic at the last moment. It will bring forth trouble and confusion, and affect your preparation. Last month must be the time which should only be utilized in revising the topics that you have already studied.
Avoid any distractions
You should frame a distraction-free zone to study effectively at last minute. Avoid all those things that distract you and maintain an environment where you feel positive and comfortable to study.
Don’t forget about negative marking
While making guesses, just keep in mind that one-fourth marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty and prevent you from arriving at the desired score. So, avoid making blind guesses which could put you in a big trouble.
Practice Mock Tests
Mock Tests is to prepare you for the final examination. It provides you a feel of the real exam before the actual exam. It helps in brushing up your concepts. It is the best approach to recall the concepts as well as to analyze your pre-exam performance.
Forget the difficulty level Phobia
Don’t let the phobia of difficulty level intrude your study room. In case, the exam would be easy or difficult for all the candidates, not just for you. So, you need not worry about the difficulty level of the exam. Just focus on your preparations.

Learn and memorize the NCERT biology for class 11 and 12. Practice from standard practice books like MTG or Arihant. Do keep the track of time whenever you practice. Clear your doubts regularly. Don’t memorize the chapters. Focus on solving the problems.
