CAT is one of the most highly competitive examinations in India. Consistent and through preparation in required to crack CAT. CAT is a computer based exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Managements for admission in the top management Institutes of India. The test scores a candidate on the bases of Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR).

Thousands of students, who go to college for various degree programs like engineering and Bachelor degree, prepare for CAT every year. Plenty of these aspirants prefer to prepare for CAT through self study along with their main degree course. Here is the list of some of the books for various sections of CAT exam for self study. There are 3 sections in the test they are, Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC), and Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DI & LR).

The Quantitative Ability and Verbal& Reading Comprehension sections consist of 34 questions, whereas the Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning section caries 32 questions. Along with the objective type questions, there are some non-MCQ questions in each section. As per the marking scheme, each question carries 4 marks and there is negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer. There is no negative marking for the non-MCQ questions.

  • Nice article. However I feel book on verbal reasoning by R..S. Agarwal is more suited to bank/SSC preparation.
