PRIVATE HOUSING:

Private housing refers to renting out a whole apartment/ house to your self. This might be the best option if you prefer having a place all to your self. Note that housing amenities, maintenance, and paperwork charges are not included in the rent, so you’ll have to pay them from your expenses.

UNIVERSITY HALLS:

If you are a fresher and want to near to the university, away from bustling streets, then University halls are the best option for you. However, note that this option is comparatively expensive than other options.

OFF-CAMPUS STUDENT HOUSING:

Off-campus student housing/ Private hall is a rented apartment/ hall shared between students with an attached common kitchen and bathroom. This is one of the affordable accommodation options available. The only cost that has to be born by you is the transportation cost.

  • You must be a full-time student if you want to rent out a private hall.
  • If you are an international student doing an internship,  you can still rent out a private hall provided that you are registered as a full-time student in your native country.
  • Generally, off-campus student housing provides lease duration for the long term (i.e., an academic year), but some off-campus halls do offer short term lease if you are doing an internship.
  • You will need to sign an agreement/ contract before moving in. The terms and conditions and deposit amount of the deal might differ according to the property.
  • If you want to rent a room, you will require a UK based guarantor. In case if you are unable to pay for the accommodation, the guarantor is liable to do so. However, if you are not able to provide a UK based guarantor, the accommodation service provider might ask you to pay extra than the usual.
