Studying in Canada: Some things to know about

Canadian universities are still popular in the world. This post is about our practical advice for leaving after the baccalaureate or in the context of a university exchange.

Canada is one of the most welcoming countries for international students: nearly 300,000 students are enrolled every year in a Canadian institution. According to a recent survey by Canada’s Immigration Department, the number of students from abroad applying for a study permit is increasing by 8.9% on average each year.

The country has 93 universities, many of which are ranked among the best in the world. This is notably the case for the 5 best universities in the country according to the Times Higher Education ranking: the University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia (Vancouver), McGill University (Montreal), McMaster University ( Hamilton, Ontario) and the University of Montreal.

In fact, the Belle Province has a particularly dynamic reception policy. However, it is perfectly possible to study in French in other Canadian provinces while living in an Anglophone environment. Curriculum and pedagogy

The pattern of postsecondary education in Canada presents some differences that must be known with that of higher education in France. The bachelor’s degree, which is equivalent to our license, is usually prepared in four years. In Canada, one often enters master’s degree in fifth year of post-secondary studies.

It is especially at the level of pedagogy implemented that the differences are most marked: problem-based learning, inverse class and mixed training are in vogue in a leading country in these new methods of learning.

The plugs are designed for two flat pins. It is advisable to carry an adapter and check if the devices to be connected can withstand the 110 volt electrical current.
