The graduation duration in student life is the crucial period to decide about his career and job. The pressure of parents and society is much heavier on the student that they sometimes cannot decide and choose what is right and what they are interested in. The selection of the job must be done as per the interest of the student as the job is something that becomes an integral part of one’s life and it is done best when the person is stress-free and enjoys his work.
Though in India both private and public sector has the same level of growth but still the craze of government jobs is more due to the perks provided along with the good salaries. Earlier getting a job in the government sector was not that tough, but with the increasing demand and a vast number of candidates, the competition has increased and one has to clear the exams conducted by the government with good grace. This piece of the blog will help you to choose which sector you want to go and what are the ways to reach your goal.
Teaching sector:
Any student who has an interest in the teaching profession and has completed their graduation with a degree of B.Ed, M.Ed or diploma in any educational degree is eligible to apply for the Teaching jobs. The teacher’s eligibility tests are conducted every year for the selection of teachers in government schools and colleges by both central and state governments. The exams conducted for the teaching profession include:
- CTET (Central Teaching Eligibility Test): This entrance exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education to determine the ability of the candidates towards teaching. Some states also consider the scoring of CTET to hire teachers in case they do not organize their own exams.
- STET (State level Teacher Eligibility Test): STET is conducted by the board of education of the particular state for the recruitment of teachers for their state itself. This entrance test is the best option for graduate students who want to stay in their state themselves and wants to enjoy the perks of being a government teacher.
- NET (National Eligibility Test): This entrance test is meant for the recruitment of Assistant Professor or Junior Research fellowship for the government colleges and universities across the country. This exam is organized by the prestigious organization, National Testing Agency (NTA) as per the norms of the University Grant Commission every year. You can apply for NET if you hold a Master’s degree in the subjects listed by the authority with a minimum of 55% marks.
- CSIR-UGC NET: This entrance exam is also conducted by NTA according to the norms and requirements of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research for the selection procedure for the post of Assistant lectures and Junior Research Fellowships.
Banking sector:
The banking sector also provides vast opportunities to the aspirants who are interested in public sector banking jobs after their graduation. Various exams are conducted for selecting candidates for banking government jobs and some of them are listed below:
- SBI PO Exam: The candidate holding any graduation degree from a recognized university/college is eligible to appear in this exam. SBI PO is conducted by State Bank of India for recruiting aspirants for probationary Officers in their organization across the country.
- IBPS Clerk Exam: This banking exam is conducted for the selection of clerks in the public banking sector of India excluding SBI Banks and is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. Any candidate holding a degree in any stream can apply for this exam.
- IBPS PO Exam: The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts the IBPS PO exam for hiring the candidates for the post of probationary Officer or Management Trainee in the public banks across the country excluding SBI Banks.
- RBI Grade A/Grade B Exams: These entrance exams are conducted directly by the Reserve Bank of India to recruit Grade A and B officers in the RBI department itself. The candidates holding any degree can prepare and apply for this exam.
- NABARD: This entrance test is conducted for the selection procedure for various posts like Development Assistant or Assistant Manager for both Grade-A and Grade-B level. The authority conducting this competitive exam is the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development for recruitments in different rural banks of India.
Other competitive exams you can go after graduation:
- SSC CGL: SSC CGL is a national level entrance exam which is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission authority for recruitments Group B and Group C officers in the government organizations. Every year lakhs of students appear for this exam which has increased the competition level of SSC.
- UPSC: Every year in the month of June, UPSC conducts its prelims exam which is followed by the mains and interview round. This exam is counted among one of the toughest exams across the country as the higher-level posts like IAS, IPS, IFS, are provided to the selected candidates. So, the candidates who are extraordinarily hardworking and have patience can apply for this exam.
- Railway Jobs: Every year Indian Railways releases numerous vacancies for different posts in the railway department such as ticket examiner, Non-technical duties, and many others.
- AFCAT: The candidates who want to begin their career in the Air Force of Indian Army should go for this entrance exam, Air Force Common Admission Test for the selection as gazetted officers in the air force department.
