Types of Exams conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC)

The Staff Selection Commission, commonly known as SSC, is a Central Government organization that takes care of the recruitment process of its various departments. SSC conducts a variety of entrance exams to fill up the technical and non-technical posts in autonomous and subordinate ministries of the Government of India. These posts are summed up in two broad groups namely Group B and Group C.

1. SSC CGL – Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level Exam

The Combined Graduate Level exam is the most popular and sought-after exams conducted by the Staff Selection Commission. SSC CGL is conducted to select suitable candidates for Group B and Group C posts in the following departments of Central Government:

2. SSC CHSL – Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam

SSC CHSL is another reputed exam held in the country. The recruitment is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to hire lower division clerks and data operators in various departments and ministries of the government. The prominent posts for which SSC CHSL is conducted include:

  • Lower Division Clerk (LDC)
