The Ministry of Tourism had launched this special programme for the creation of employable skills amongst youth belonging to economically weaker sections of the society and to bridge the gap of skilled manpower in the hospitality sector.
Kolkata: To give jobs to underprivileged youth and meet the ever-expanding manpower requirement of the hospitality industry, the Union Ministry of Tourism has tied up with a city-based private institute to offer free training programmes.
Under the ‘Hunar Se Rozgar Tak’ initiative, NIPS School of Hotel Management along with the India Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (ITDC) run by the Ministry of Tourism, will offer free courses to underprivileged youngsters from this year. At a function held in this regard today, state Tourism Minister Rachpal Singh said youths trained under this scheme will be absorbed in various prestigious hotel chains.
The programme is targeted at underprivileged youth who are minimum Class VIII pass within the age group of 18 to 28 years, institute officials said. Having duration of a few weeks, free courses are offered on food & beverage service along with housekeeping and food production. Uniform and toolkit are also provided free of cost to the students.
