It is not because we have been brought up and taught by our parents to work in a govt office, but seeing its many perks has strengthened our faith on them. India being such a large democracy is always in need of skilled candidates, with so many departments to handle, from banks to commissions, secretariats, state boards, defence, agriculture and HRD. Another point to note is that an immense population of ours depend on these jobs, an opportunity that many of us want or have always wanted. A great range of our population, who are more than 8th Pass to Graduates, Post Graduates and PhDs apply for government jobs.
A regular way of getting a sarkari job is to qualify the exam conducted by the organization, which tests the basic rationality and awareness of the candidate. This is mostly followed by an interview, which is a personality test. Candidates from all over India apply for the releasing vacancies by the government. Staff Selection Commission conducts a number of exams for offering employment from a 12th pass candidate to a post graduate in various central government departments. 2. Institute of Banking Personnel (IBPS)
IBPS is the one organization that takes in candidates for the various public sector banks. The name of exams conducted are IBPS Probationary Officer (PO), Clerk, Specialist Officer, Railway Recruitment Board PO and Clerk.
3. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)
UPSC recruits candidates for All India Services and for Group A and B of Central Services. These include Indian Administrative Services(IAS), Indian Police Services(IPS), Indian Forest Services(IFS). UPSC is also the conducting body for Indian Armed Forces through NDA and AFCAT and for Scientists and Officers such as Geo Scientists and Statistical Officers.

With the largest of railway network & connectivity, the Ministry of Railways provide a huge number of opportunities. These are also one of the most attractive government jobs, ranging from apprentices to engineers, managers and directors.
