The Line between Data and Business Analytics is Getting Thinner

If you are interested in commercial trends you must have noticed that representatives of various global industries that have branches or business in India are finding India to be a staggeringly competitive market; at the same time an incredibly potent one. If a business gets going in India it can have a customer base beyond imagination. You cannot just ignore the Indian market because it is so lucrative, and then again you cannot penetrate it without a competitive edge sharpened by business analytics or BA.

Business analytics is constituted by a number of interrelated tasks – data collection, statistical analysis, data visualization, creating a business strategy. This is the essence of business analytics at its best. But in reality, the job role of a business analyst can be quite arbitrarily defined by different companies. In some cases, the data analyst also performs the duties of a business analytics professional while in some cases business analysts are asked to perform peculiar tasks of a big data analytics. The main reason behind this kind of alteration is a lack of budget or in some cases a lack of planning. While this is quite normal, what is not acceptable is if a company employs you on a BA’s pay role to perform something completely different like reporting and tweaking present analytics structures. This may stand in the way of your progress.

Business analytics jobs are quite abundant globally because of the emergence of a market of total competition. Large and small companies are fighting for the same consumer bases, hence the need for integrating business analytics. What a business analyst does for an enterprise finding the holes in its strategy by analyzing the company’s data and closing those gaps in accordance with the demands of the market.

Undergoing an effective business analytics course should prepare you to grabs the opportunities which are presenting themselves. The demand for personnel with analytics training has jumped by almost 120% since 2015. This gradient is going to get steeper but only up to a certain time then, like every other trend, it is going to lose the upward curvature. So, it is best to use the opportunities at hand.

The line between business analytics and big data analytics is thinning to a point of disappearance. Although business analyst is a term that goes farther back than big data, today it is hard to discern between the roles. Yes technically some distinction is supposed to be there but the practical situation is demanding a merger. Anyway, you can hardly control your job role in the initial part of your professional career; you may have to go with the wind for a while. Be prepared for whatever comes your way and learn all that you can.
